Meetings and Other Activities
-
Monthly meetings - Normally held on the first Thursday of each month, (except August), usually in Norwich. Often a speaker will give a talk, frequently illustrated. January is usually a members short contributions meeting.
We welcome suggestions for speakers, and would urge anyone who has been carrying out a project to perhaps come and tell us about it.
The meeting incorporating the AGM normally includes a quiz or other entertainment, and members are invited to bring snacks or other food contributions for a social gathering after the formal business.
After the meetings some members socialise in the St Andrews Tavern, a nearby excellent public house.
-
Field meetings and surveys - Normally held on the second Sunday of the month. These are arranged as required.
-
Social meetings - two a year, the Summer Social usually being in a local museum or a site connected with industrial archaeology. The Spring meeting is usually at the kind invitation of a member.
-
Visits to local working industries are occasionally organised.
-
Long weekend trips - a long weekend in an area of interest, usually using a self-drive minibus.
-
Working days at Gunton Mill, and also staffing on days when the mill is opened to the public.
