National Organisations

aia logoThe Association for Industrial Archaeology is the national body representing Industrial Archaeology in the UK. Publishes a Journal and also organises a number of conferences each year, including its annual conference and AGMN held in September each year. Includes links to many other local industrial archaeology societies.

CBA

The Council for British Archaeology represents and promotes archaeology nationally and through regional groups. Membership open to Societies and individuals.

NROThe Norfolk Record Office collects and preserves records of historical significance for the county of Norfolk and makes them accessible to as wide a range of people as possible. It is a joint service of the County and District Councils of Norfolk. The web site includes a number of topic based information sheets
Norfolk MuseumThe Norfolk Museums Service has several fact sheets on its extensive website about Norfolk Industries, especially Norwich's main industries.

  NOAH
Norfolk Online Access to Heritage is your key that opens the door to the combined on-line collections of Cultural Services at Norfolk County Council.
NOAH gives you access by searching across the collection records of our archives, libraries and museums, showing images where they are available.
Currently, this includes the entire library catalogue, over 200,000 museum objects, about 16,000 digitised photographs, the index to over 23,000 local newspaper articles and over 63,000 archive records.

Virtual NorfolkVirtual Norfolk A JISC sponsored project developed by the University of East Anglia. The project has so far put many hundred of documents and transcripts relating to Norfolk history on line.

Specific Topics

Mills

A good resource for up to date information and photographs of many of Norfolk's Wind and Watermills. The emphasis is on historical data and the site is now has over 1,000 pages and listing over 850 Norfolk watermills and windmills and there will probably be in excess of 1,000 by the end of this year. The pages contain a mass of archive information.
